LOCAL COMPANY LOCATES STOLEN LAPTOP

WINCHESTER, VA MARCH 22, 2010: A laptop goes missing from a local Winchester business office. Where could it be? Unable to locate it, the office contacted Tektility, their local computer managed service provider. Could they locate the missing laptop?

Within the hour, Tektility, Inc. of Winchester, Virginia called and had located the computer in Maryland where the thief was chatting on Facebook. Capturing screen shots of the thief’s online activity, a police report was filed detailing information about the person with the stolen laptop.

“When I received the call, I was in my car returning from a meeting in Richmond,” said Christopher Weger, President of Tektility, Inc. Remotely accessing Tektility’s Network Operations Center, his staff began tracking the computer and identifying the person with the stolen laptop. Seeing the activity on Facebook, Tektility was able to identify the person.

By providing this information to the client’s office, the client was able to give the Winchester Police Department more detail than just their laptop was missing.
